Viva Las Vegas...Glad To Be An Okie!
Went to Las Vegas this past week for the kick-off, or I guess it should be tip-off of March Madness. Had a great time...ate too much, drank too much, gambled too much...everything in excess except for sleeping!
While out there, I realized just how good we have it here in Oklahoma...from a gambling/slot machine perspective. I love going to Vegas for the atmosphere, food, night-life...there is no other place that compares, but when it comes to slot machines, Vegas can't hold a candle to those found in good 'ole Oklahoma casinos. NO COMPARISON...out in Vegas, I won't touch a machine...or at least try not to! However, Oklahoma slots are so much loser...the money practically falls out of them.
Since I didn't play the one-armed bandit much, most of my time was spent at the blackjack tables. If there is one thing that is a given when I gamble, it is that I always get asked where I am from...surely it's not because of my accent. That then leads to what I do for a living in Oklahoma, which turns to "What are the casinos like in Oklahoma". They are astonished to learn that we have so many gambling spots here! They also are floored to hear that there is an "ante" collected when playing table games...highway-robbery as one dealer said. I totally agree, but that topic is a whole other blog in itself.
Yep, Vegas is fun, but it is always nice to return home. Oklahoma's casinos are a hidden gem that we as Okies are lucky to know about and have such easy access to...Viva La Oklahoma!
