No Free Drinks at Oklahoma Casinos
The quintessential Las Vegas or Atlantic City casino experience comes with card dealers in ties, feather-festooned showgirls and the most coveted amenity: the free drink. Yet as casino gambling has migrated from America's storied gambling towns to middle America, the complimentary cocktail hasn't always survived the trip.
The reasons are sometimes moral, sometimes economic, and in Oklahoma's case, the reason is "it's the law".
Tribal casinos where alcoholic beverages are served may not offer free or complimentary drinks or "happy hours,". Tribes entering into gaming compacts with the state must comply with Oklahoma's liquor laws.
The Model Tribal Gaming Compact provides as follows: "The sale and service of alcoholic beverages in a facility shall be in compliance with state, federal and tribal law in regard to the licensing and sale of such beverages."
So, until the law changes (don't hold your breath), players will continue to have to shell out $$ for a cold one.
